The History of Valley Tire LTD.

In December of 1921, Valley Tire LTD. opened as a vulcanizing shop in Oakdene Vale (commonly referred to as "the foot of Gallows Hill" or "Misquito Hollow"). Over half a century later, we remain one of the oldest, if not the oldest, independent tire dealers in Canada.

The Beginning of a Family Legacy

Valley Tire LTD. is owned by Harold Quigley, who purchased the business back in July of 1974. At the time, it was common practice for tires to be "broken down" in the showroom. Soon after acquiring Valley Tire LTD., renovations and expansions began starting in 1975.

The years following saw continued changes and growth. In 1986, a heavy-duty truck bay and tire warehouse saw completion. In 1998, a major warehouse expansion concluded.

Where We Are Today

Today, there are three Valley Tire locations to best serve you.

• Valley Tire Kentville employs 14 people and is managed by Harold's son, Derek.
• Valley Tire Bridgewater employs 13 people and is managed by Harold's son, Steven.Opened in 1994, this location is a full service outlet.
• Valley Tire Halifax employs 4 people and also provides full service. This location opened in 2013.

Understanding Success

Harold attributes his success with Valley Tire LTD. to three things:

• Product Quality
• Product Knowledge
• Customer Service

The tire industry has gone through tremendous changes since 1965. Harold has been around to see many of them, and no matter how tires evolve or shopping habits change, it always comes back to product quality, product knowledge and customer service. It is essential for any dealer to have excellent product knowledge not only in order to sell that product to the customer but to also ensure that the customer will return.

Harold and his sons, Stephen and Derek, are recognized BFGoodrich T/A masters. In addition, all employees are required to attend technical seminars to stay on top of industry changes in an an ever-changing market.

Our staff listens to what you want out of a tire or service, and we provide it. That's why we have regular customers who have been with us since 1974.
